Displays and cameras for future-proof commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery and construction machinery

The driver's cab of modern commercial vehicles, agricultural and construction machinery has long been a digital workplace. Displays monitor complex processes, cameras eliminate blind spots, and touch controls replace entire switch panels. Modern HMIs (human-machine interfaces) are designed to extend operating times, minimise downtime and increase productivity. But the reality is often different: heat, cold, constant vibrations, dust and moisture push every component to its physical limits. Failures, frequent maintenance or safety risks can quickly negate the technological advantage. Easily integrated, robust HMI solutions are therefore the key to competitive advantage.

Extreme temperature fluctuations can affect conventional displays, as they lead to condensation and shorten the LED service life, among other things. Sunlight impairs readability because it creates double reflections in the air gap between the display layers, thereby reducing contrast. This is where VIA optronics' patented optical bonding comes in. This process permanently closes the air gap between the cover glass and the display panel using a silicone-based material.

Advantages of patented optical bonding:

  • Extreme robustness: High adhesive strength ensures a permanent bond.
  • Vibration protection: The elastic silicone material absorbs vibrations and compensates for different thermal expansions.
  • Perfect readability: The air gap-free bond eliminates double reflections (reflection loss <1%) and ensures high-contrast images even in direct sunlight.
  • Durability: The ingress of dust or moisture is prevented and the panel is permanently protected against yellowing or cracking.

Greater safety thanks to reliable cameras

In addition to robust displays, modern cameras are the second key technology for greater safety and efficiency. Wide-angle and telephoto cameras replace exterior mirrors, provide raw data for lane departure warning and distance control systems, and reduce parking and turning accidents. HDR sensor technology produces razor-sharp images in bright sunlight as well as at dusk or at night. The VIA optronics model series with comprehensive fields of view cover viewing tasks from narrow FOV for e-mirror positions to ultra-wide FOV for seamless all-round visibility. Maximum device life and reliability are ensured by robust housings with extreme resistance that can withstand high-pressure cleaning, mud and continuous vibration.

Equip your fleet for the future

According to practical data, the payback period for replacing selected components can be less than 24 months when accident damage, insurance premiums and efficiency gains are taken into account.
